4 Journals I Can’t Live Without

Weekly Journal

This journal was a gift from one of my dear friends for Christmas.  For each week there are prompts that aim to help readers to grow and develop positivity outlooks on their lives.  There are 4 different types of contents that the journal focuses on, which are reflection, acknowledgment, investment, transformation.  

 I like to spend my Monday mornings writing down lists based on the set prompts and starting the week with something positive to set the tone.  I also incorporates reading through the lists every morning during my morning meditations, as I prepare for my day-to-day activities.

This journal is very meaningful to me because it has prompts, questions and inspiration words that I’ve never thought of.  Sometimes I tend to get overwhelmed by making endless checklists for my hectic lifestyles that I forget to check in with myself.  If making long lists is more appealing than journaling to you, then I recommend you to check out this journal.

Daily Planner

I cannot function without my daily planner, and I am so picky when it comes to picking out a planner.  It took me forever to find one that has lots of space to write down my daily checklist, as well as a monthly calendar at the beginning of each month for me to mark all the upcoming events.  Thankfully I finally found this journal on Amazon, and it is everything I’ve ever wanted!

First off, it is bigger than previous planners that I’ve used, it has plenty of rooms for me to make notes such as assignments, location, time, etc.  It drives insane when planners are so small that you can’t detail everything you need.  Another plus is the planner even has small checklist boxes that I can mark after finishing a task (SATISFACTION!).

I love how simple and motivating the cover is, and it acts as a nice reminder for when I procrastinate.  The last thing I love about this planner is at the beginning of each month, there are quotes that are lighthearted and inspirational!

Monthly Budget Journal

One of my new year resolutions is to be better at managing my money.  I’ve always been terrible with staying on a budget and holding myself accountable.  I have tried different techniques and apps to help me keep an eye on my spending, but none of them worked.  I don’t like using Excel to keep track of my spending.  I found it difficult to find the right template and putting the numbers into a computer wasn’t enough to hold me accountable.  I tried apps like Mint, but it wasn’t long before I get notifications for overspending because I was not able to keep up with the spending.

I came across this spending journal at Barnes and Noble one day, and it had everything that I was looking for.  Since it is a physical journal, it was effective in holding me accountable with my spending, especially when I had to write down how much I’ve been spending on optional expenses.  The most interesting about this journal is it encourages readers to use cash rather than cards.  Since it was only a piece of plastic, I found myself having little incentives when using cards.  But when I had to pay using cash, I found myself more reluctant to make a purchase without having second thoughts.  It helps me be better at keeping track of my weekly spendings.  At the end of the week, I would have to do my own calculation to see how much money I’ve spent.  And this helped me put into the perspective of being more thoughtful with my spending.

Personal Journal

Last is my personal writing journal and this one I got from Michael’s.  I always carry a journal with me everywhere I go, it is handy to use for taking quick notes, journaling, and sketching.  Whenever I travel alone, I also carry it with me as my way to reflect on travel experience and I find this practice extremely wholesome.  I also love the inspirational message and the color of the journal, it is super simple and classy. 

Journaling is one of my favorite ways to escape stress, it is my release outlet.  If you are stress or going through a hard time, I recommend you to take a moment and write down everything you are thinking or feeling.  I think it is very therapeutic and uplifting to write when you are feeling down because it is your own writing, and you don’t have to worry about anyone judging you.  I believe the most rewarding thing is reading your older entries to see your progress and growth from all the hardship that you had to face.

I hope these journals will be helpful to you, whether you are learning to better manage your time, finance or happiness.  One thing that I should note that some of these journals can only work when you are holding yourself accountable.  It may be difficult at first, but I promise it’s worth keeping up with.
