My Healthy Morning Routine

“One day you will wake up and there won’t be any more time to do the things you’ve always wanted. Do it now.” ~ Paulo Coelho

After a huge revelation of how morning habits can affect my energy and mood for the rest of the day, I’ve been dedicating more efforts to preparing myself before starting my day. I like to pay close attention to how my body feels in the morning, gage my energy level, and make not of my stress.

I usually spend the first 5 minutes in bed, stretching and waking my body up before getting up to wash my face and get dress. I like to stand in front of the mirror for a brief minute to observe my body and scan my body from top to bottom. This has been helping me to be more thoughtful about the things I eat during the day to not cause my body any kind of discomfort. This is also the time I take to appreciate my body and see my progress from exercising and eating healthy foods.

The next portion of my morning, I spend it on refueling and rehydrating my body. I always start my day by drinking a glass water before consuming any foods or other drinks. I love drinking a big glass of water to get my metabolism going, and water also helps to flush out toxins in my body.

After taking some time to settle in, I like to do some light stretches or depending on the day I also do 10-15 minutes of yoga. Morning yogas are one of the best things I have ever added to my routine, especially on days when my body was sore from working out from the previous day. I sometimes attend early yoga classes at school when I can wake up on time, but any form of physical activities in the morning is like a manual start to the day.

I am a huge believer in starting my day with being mindful and peaceful. I do not like rushing my morning routine because I don’t like starting my day within a hectic manner since it can set the tone for the rest of the day. After stretching and getting ready, I like to spend part of my morning reading the Scripture and meditating. Reading is my way of being building an intimate relationship with God, and I like to end my reading sessions with a prayer. I also enjoy meditation in the morning to clear my mind and to set a balanced state of mind. Morning meditations always make me feel more rejuvenated and ready to face the new day.

“The biggest task in the morning is to try to keep my headspace from being invaded by the outside world.” ~ Austin Kleon

Morning routines tend to be different for everyone, but I hope that you enjoyed reading about mine. I always enjoy waking up early in the morning so I can indulge in all of the peace and quiet. As my daily life changes, I like to be flexible and open-minded when it comes to tweaking my routine here and there to accommodate these changes.

Thank you for reading ^.^
