I took a day trip from Hartford, CT to Boston, MA via bus with a few of my friends from work. It was an enjoyable experience to explore the city with my friends.
Our bus arrived at left Union Station at 9 am and arrived at South Station around 11 am. The cost of roundtrip tickets was $28, which was very affordable. We mostly walked our way around the city, passing through the China Town, Boston Public Garden, and the Faneuil Hall Marketplace. These locations were lovely, filled with tourists enjoying themselves inside small restaurants and eateries.
When in Boston, I had to try the lobster roll. We got our lobster from a place called Luke’s Lobster in the downtown area. The lobster meat tasted fresh and sweet, it paired perfectly with the split hotdog buns and a sprinkle of celery salt added an unfamiliar taste to the roll. The combination was simple yet delightful, I was sad after finishing it 😦 .
The lobster roll cost about $19 with tax, which was pretty pricey, but I think it was totally worth for the quality and the amount of lobsters per serving.
We passed through the Faneuil Hall Marketplace and went towards the Boston Harbor. On our way there, I picked up a cup of freshly made lemonade. The refreshment taste helped to cool me down as I enjoyed the breeze and rays of sunshine.
We traveled to North End to pick up some cannolis from Mike’s Pastry. The little streets were filled with tourists, thankfully the weather wasn’t too hot. The pastry shop was busy with so many customers, there was a long line out the door and down the street. Thankfully the line moved pretty quickly, and we were inside the shop after 10 minutes of waiting.
The varieties were endless!!! They also had other sweets such as lobster tails, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, marzipans, eclairs, etc. They only accept cash, so bring your bills!
We went back to the harbor to enjoy our cannolis. I picked chocolate-dipped cannoli, it was delicious. I expected it to be very sweet and heavy, but surprisingly it wasn’t too heavy but rather a good balance of sweetness and a bit a tanginess. Holy Cannoli!
Aside from traveling to a new place with my friends, the view of the beautiful harbor and the sweet cannoli was the highlight of my day. I can’t wait to visit Boston again, and I will remember to take more pictures next time ^.^’.
